Ingredients
- 8 Lg. green cabbage leaves
- 1 lb. ground beef (90% lean)
- 1/4 C chopped onion
- 2 T chopped fresh parsley
- 3/4 t salt
- 1 t chopped fresh thyme, or 1/2 t dried thyme
- 1 sm. Clove garlic, minced
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1 8-oz.can tomato sauce
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 375F. Prepare a flat baking dish or casserole with nonstick pan spray.
- Blanch the cabbage leaves by immersing them in a pot of boiling water for 1 minute. Drain and pat the leaves dry.
- Combine the beef, onion, parsley, salt, thyme, garlic, and pepper. Mix well. Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions on the cabbage leaves. Roll or fold the leaves around the filling. Secure each cabbage roll with wooden toothpicks.
- Place the rolls seam side down in the baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce over the rolls.
- Bake, covered 50-60 minutes.
